Hermès creates luxury bags made from food
The bags were made from asparagus, cabbage, cucumber, bananas and apples.
The well-established luxury fashion brand, Hermès, has revealed photos of their latest designs – bags made entirely from food! Using veggies like asparagus, cabbage and cucumber with fruit like bananas and apples, Ben Denzer made this range of bags.
As a certified visual artist and designer, Denzer wanted to make a comment on the fashion industry’s drive towards sustainable fashion.
The design of the vegetable bags are meant to resemble their most famous design – the birkin bag.
Hermès posted the three bags separately, accompanying each with a caption reading ‘enjoy the detour as classic Hermès bags inspire art good enough to eat’.
On his own Instagram account, Ben Denzer shows the production process of the vegetable bags along with some fruit outtakes, such as a banana and an apple birkin that didn’t make the final cut.
While the objective behind the stunt is unclear, the photos could be a teaser for Hermès’ upcoming alternative leather bags, slated to reach stores at the end of this year.
