It regulates what can be called coffee and what not

South Africa has recently passed new regulations on what may be called coffee and what not. The rules also set out standards that coffee mixtures must meet in order to be legally branded as coffee. Ricoffy is one of the products that doesn’t qualify to be called coffee under the new regulations. Nestle has said, however, that it has a solution without the need of doing a full-on rebrand of the iconic product. Anything that calls itself a “coffee mix” must contain at least 75% coffee under the new rules. Ricoffy contains 25% coffee, but they said they have found a loophole and will still be calling themselves the number 1 coffee brand in SA.
