A total of three quakes were felt over the weekend.

Over the weekend, Cape Townians were hit by a series of earthquakes and tremors that left many feeling the earth shake beneath their feet. The first quake happened at about 20:30 on Saturday night and registered 6.2 on the Richter’s scale. It took place about 1 600km from the South African coast. On Sunday morning, two new quakes could be felt just after 09:00. Initially, it was reported that these quakes were merely tremors of the first earthquake, but evidence soon came to the fore which shows that these were totally unrelated. Apparently, more tremors and aftershocks might be on the cards.
